I think getting rid of, my bed and large pillows in the corner.
I like television, so I'll get rid of.
I hang my Christmas lights along one wall and a curtain and simply, as my main light, can be used to replace the ugly light on the ceiling.

I do not know if I would rid myself of my bed if I were you. You can always 5 or 6 pillows on the bed to soften their appearance ... This path would be the look you want, without his bed. You can have fun with pillow ... Add a touch of color and soften the appearance of the bed.
You can also use the curtains to something warm and inviting.
